What I’m reading: Radical Ecstasy

Posted January 30th, 2014 by wirefish

I started reading Radical Ecstasy a few days ago. I’m not very far into it, and it’s not light reading since it demands engagement. I’ve read pretty much everything Easton/Hardy have written and have several early print versions on my shelf. This has become a bit longer post than I expected, and it’s naval-gazey, so I’ll put it behind a jump.

What I learned in 2013: workflow

Posted January 24th, 2014 by wirefish

At my last writing group meeting, we ended up chatting about tools we use and love. I rattled on about Scrivener and Aeon Time Line enough that people were taking notes. A couple people have expressed interest in how I’m wrangling my little entertainment, so here you go.

I’m pretty open that Cantata started life as my NaNo 2012 project. Somewhere around January, when I reached 130K words, I decided it was time to wrangle the beast out of My Writing Nook and apply more structure that what was possible from a cluster of text documents.

Just a map, folks. A map of possibilities. Or plot prompts. Or something.

Shawls and things

Mom was smitten with the giant (6-7 ft wide) lace shawl I’d knitted when she came up the end of December. It’s in electric blue, 2-ply laceweight, wool and silk and sparkle, with silver-lined clear beads. It is stunning.

I figured I’d knit her a lace shawl. Since mom’s losing her memory, had to be in easy care acrylic; if it ends up in the washer, it’ll survive. Plus, it cost all of $6 in materials and only a week of evenings, so if it gets destroyed by abuse or contact with the velcro of her lymphedema sleeve, no major loss. It came off the needles last week, and we blocked & steamed it yesterday. It turned out really well; it’s in the mail already.

Need to get back to writing, though. My local group posted a call for submissions from a publisher: hot, steamy kink, dark, possibly multi-partner. Guess what — I have one of those. LOL. Need to clean the critter off, though. There’s no deadline on submissions, so I have time, I reckon.

Yes, I do say reckon. I’m a Southern belle, don’tcha know?

Erm…mom would be appalled to know I mentioned her and smut in the same post. Oh well.
