So, I had about two weeks of vacation.
During that time, I set up my WP sites. Yes, two. Because I accomplished something else that I have wanted to do for 36 years.
I got a DBA (Doing Business As). I now have a formal pen name. Have I mentioned this before? As if to validate it, some business sent actual mail sent to my address for my DBA. To my mind, this is Step One for actually publishing my original, commercially-viable work, because I’m tired of posting it under a string of nonsense handles. (I’m not ready to link my fan fic name to my other pen name. Not yet.)
To be honest, I couldn’t have done it without other people. Like my new RWA community providing guidance such as “pick a name you might respond to.” Or without the encouragement of folks who are reading Cantata.
It’s not the story so much. Rather, it’s the style that I’ve struggled for that makes Cantata what I want: the deep POV, and the intent to make every part drive the story forward, the embrace of motive to drive deep conflict. The smut helps too.
Which leads me to my next post, on serials.
